Research into field emission, luminance and luminous efficiency

As part of our research activities, we perform:

In connection with the subject matter of the research carried out by the Nanotechnology Department, the equipment also includes workstations for testing field emission, luminance and luminous efficiency.

The station for testing field emission is equipped with a pump set comprising a diaphragm and turbomolecular pump by PFEIFFER-VACUUM, vacuum tank, measuring chamber and vacuum head. These assemblies are mounted on rack made of aluminium modular profiles. A computer is connected to the station for recording and archiving measurement data. The emission measurements are performed at a pressure of 10-7 mbar with the use of a steel anode. The distance between the cathode and the anode can be changed from 30 to several hundred mm at a supply voltage of 0–3.8 kV. The station for testing the luminance and luminous efficiency of the materials tested is equipped with a special optical chamber. The screen of the chamber is covered with a luminophore which makes it possible to observe the luminance of the materials tested over time and at the voltage applied.
